Get Them Started Young!

In conjunction with the Canadian Armed Forces Recruiting Office, I'd like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy Canada Day, eh?!!
I know it's been far too long since my last post, and I won't bore you with the usual excuses (too busy, too much on my mind, got engaged, couldn't find the time to write, etc.). The important thing is: I'm back! Even though I've been remiss in the posting department, you may have noticed a regular crop of photos added over the last few months. So there has been activity here, but more quiet and subtle than written posts. And to haul out once again my lamest (and most over-used) rationalization, if a picture is worth a thousand words, then I've actually contributed many posts' worth of photos.
Speaking of photos, I took the photo above at the Rio Tinto Dragonboat Festival on Saturday, June 21, at False Creek here in Vancouver. Bryn was competing with her team, the Swordfish, and while I was waiting for her second race to begin, I wandered around the grounds, where there were countless tents, displays, and people milling about. This display caught my eye, for obvious reasons. The Communications branch of the CAF were recruiting at the site, and apparently have no minimum age limit for potential recruits :) Ah, nothing tickles the heart more than the sight of young girls playing with heavy artillery...
I thought this image provided a nice segue from my last post back in February ("Gun Crimes 'R Us"), but I'll leave it to you to make any connections you may feel are appropriate.
In the meantime, enjoy our national holiday! More posts and photos are on their way!
