It's not too often that I've been out for a walk and stumbled across a dead wolf (or a live one, for that matter). I don't know what (or who) killed it, but one of my students thinks that it died of natural causes or old age. City boy that I am, it never occurred to me that where there's one wolf, there are likely to be more in the vicinity, just lying in wait for some unsuspecting well-fed greenhorn hiker...
