Arctic Mark's Photo Gallery (vol. 9 - April 2006)
Saturday, April 1st, 2006 marked the official name change from "Holman" to "Ulukhaktok," and the first pictures you'll see here are from the town's celebrations on that historic day, which I was privileged both to witness and to partake in. Unfortunately, the scheduled sled-dog races did not happen, but there were lots of other fun events, as you'll see, although sadly I missed the "Rabbit-Dropping Counting" Contest (no, that's not an April Fool's joke). All in all, a very enjoyable and auspicious beginning to a month that promises to "spring" many other surpises and delights on all of us....
