Fahrenheit Minus 451...
...is the title of Ray Bradbury's lesser-known "prequel" to his famous novel, where this evil dystopic future society bans all books, but instead of burning them, they truck them to the dump of a remote Arctic settlement, where they are thrown unceremoniously in a big pile and left to freeze into oblivion. Surprisingly, this "prequel" was never published, perhaps because the editors decided that a pile of freezing books just wasn't as inherently dramatic as a pile of burning ones. If you agree, one glance at this photo should be enough to put THAT theory to rest. In any case, according to reliable scientific authorities, minus 451 is apparently the temperature at which paper freezes. Who knew?
