The second in my experimental "Impressionist" series of photographs. In this one, I was attempting to create a sense of the boundaries between observer and subject by partially obscuring the image using the classic "foggy lens" technique in a whole new way. Note how the little squiggle of light (the headlight of a snowmobile on the ocean ice) draws your eye from the region of clarity into the realm of uncertainty. (I have no idea what actually happened here. Is it condensation on the lens? Is it my breath actually freezing in mid-air? Is it some Arctic land-spirit or alien life-form trying to communicate with me? We'll never know. It's a mystery wrapped inside a riddle inside an enigma...)
