A Sign of the Times (and the Place)

A Sign of the Times (and the Place)

You didn't really expect me to take a picture of the official "Welcome to Holman" sign back when I first arrived here in early August, did you? If so, you obviously haven't the slightest clue about how my brain works. I was waiting for just the right moment to take a picture of this local landmark, and this was it: Monday, Dec. 12, around 7 pm, when I went out for a walk halfway to the airport and back, and then all around the town. It was relatively mild out, with almost no wind, which around here means: grab the chance to get out for a brisk and bracing "constitutional" before the next blizzard hits.

The reason I turned back at the halfway point to the airport is that I encountered a local resident driving a truck on the road, who told me that wolf tracks had been spotted outside of town, near the bridge by the airport, so there were a few hunters out and about. I decided that I should probably not tempt fate by wandering alone at night down an unlit road with my old friends the wolves on the prowl. I feel obligated to provide some minimal amount of challenge for them in their stalking of me; no-one can ever accuse me of being easy prey...
Oh yeah - nice sign, isn't it? Although I think they could have crammed a few more northern and/or local symbols on there.
