Sun and Sun Dog #1 (Left)
Coming back past the school, we saw these pillars of light on both sides of the sun, known as parhelia or more commonly, "sun dogs" or "mock suns." They're formed by sunlight refracting through ice crystals in the air.
You can see the sun dog over on the left here, a vertical pillar of hazy light engulfing a hydro pole in the distance.
